In an effort to combat any future #OscarsSoWhite controversies, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences just announced that they’ve invited 683 new members into the folds. Their aim is to increase diversity in the voting processes that help shape the nominees and eventual winners on Hollywood’s biggest night.
The 683 include Eva Mendes, Nate Parker, Rita Wilson, Gabrielle Union, John Boyega, Michael B. Jordan, Ryan Coogler, Ice Cube, Anthony Anderson, Chadwick Boseman, Morris Chestnut, Regina King, America Ferrera, Vivica A. Fox, Will.i.am, Sia, Mary J. Blige and Idris Elba.
