Since the public split, fans have witnessed the ups and downs of the pair’s breakup through their hit Bravo reality show, The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Cynthia, however, is getting extra candid with television host Steve Harvey about her divorce.
During Bailey’s appearance on Steve Harvey, set to air on Thursday, the reality star tells the host, “I think I just reached a breaking point. I just felt like, you know what, since I’ve been in this marriage, I’ve been working on this marriage, and it just got to a point where I just got tired of working on my marriage. And I felt like, you know what, I’ve given all I can give.”
Cynthia continues to reveal that initially the divorce was not mutual. “Well, I actually initiated it, um, I think in Peter’s heart, he knows that we’ve just kind of come to the end of the road. I think he’s just the type of person that would just kind of hang in there and just keep roughing it out,” she says.
She explains, “But you know, I’m reaching a huge milestone. Next year I’m going to be turning 50 and …. when I wake up on my 50th birthday, you know, I really want to open my eyes and just love everything that I see, and love the person that I’m with and just have peace. And um, this marriage …. it was supposed to happen. I’ve been engaged a couple of times, but Peter is the only man that I married, and I have absolutely no regrets. But I just want peace and I just wasn’t getting peace and that’s what I want for my next chapter.”
Despite the split, Thomas and Cynthia have remained cordial. Over the weekend, Bailey’s daughter, Noelle, whom she shares with actor Leon Robinson, visited Peter in North Carolina.
Peter shared this photo on Instagram with the caption: “This beautiful girl @noellerobinson spend the weekend in Charlotte with me, best time ever.”
