Lamar Odom is breaking his silence about his failed marriage in the new issue of Us Weekly including the moment his former wife Khloe Kardashian found out he was abusing drugs.
According to the 37-year-old he tried to hide it from Kardashian when they first got together, but eventually she knew exactly what was going on.
“Around two years before we split up [in 2011], I was in the man cave she had made for me and she caught me,” the former NBA champ said. “She was disappointed. So was I. The sad thing about it is, I don’t know if I was disappointed because I was actually doing the drug or because she caught me.”
At that point, the reality star knew how badly her then-husband was struggling.
“She knew I was doing cocaine the whole time after that. It was my drug of choice. I’m not going to say she accepted it because that would be the wrong word,” he continued. “Tolerated would be a better word.”
And it wasn’t just the drug abuse that Kardashian was aware of, but his numerous infidelities as well.
“B**ches and Thots came out of the woodwork. If there is one thing I regret when I was married, it was having multiple affairs with different women. That wasn’t the stand-up thing to do. I wish I could have kept my d–k in my pants,” he said.
Odom, who says he’s now sober after a recent stint at a San Diego rehab, even recounted the time his former wife caught him with another woman in Los Angeles.
“She caught me in a sleazy motel room in LA, getting high with this one girl. It was atrocious. Looking back, I’m like, ‘What are you doing?’ That was like sticking a knife in her heart and twisting it. She didn’t deserve it. She always tried to help me with the drugs,” he said. “I rejected the help.”
Kardashian stayed by Odom’s side as he recovered from a binge at a Nevada brothel in late 2015 that left him fighting for his life. But it was his daughter Destiny who finally helped him get sober after multiple attempts at recovery.
“My daughter gave me the ultimatum to go. She said, “Pops, you get help or I won’t talk to you.” I think she saw it in my behavior.”
“Living sober, meaning no drugs, is a great feeling,” he added. “Being in the moment is important — how you react, respond, create. If I would have done coke last night, you would have gotten some d–khead here trying to get out of here fast. But you’re getting Lamar now.”
