It’s been a pretty good week for women of color in the modeling world. On Tuesday night singer and fashionista Ciara announced that she would officially be joining the modeling world, inking a deal with mega agency IMG Models.
CiCi, who is also the face of Roberto Cavalli, posted the news on her Instagram account saying: Excited To Join The @IMGmodels Family. Looking Forward To The Journey Ahead.
IMG Models will now manage all beauty, fashion and modeling deals for the singer-turned-model, while their sister company WME will still represent CiCi on all her entertainment endeavors including music.
“I’m super thrilled about partnering with IMG Models,” Ciara said in a statement. “I have always had a strong love for fashion and I’m grateful to be surrounded by so many great friends that are the best at what they do in this industry. This partnership will give me an opportunity to grow and experiment as an artist. I truly look forward to all the amazing things we have planned ahead.”
Meanwhile, former America’s Next Top Model contestant Eugena Washington, is also making major model moves. On Wednesday afternoon, it was announced that the 31-year-old beauty had been named Playboy’s 2016 Playmate of the Year.
After appearing in Playboy as the December 2015 Playmate of the Month, she landed Playmate of the Year. She’s the third black woman to be given the honor.
