The secret’s out; Rachel Lindsay let it slip that SHE’S ENGAGED! She told Entertainment Tonight, “I’m very much in love and very much engaged.” The new season hasn’t even begun and we already know everything is coming up roses.
After 12 successful seasons, fans and critics alike couldn’t help but notice there would be people of color as token contestants and never as the main Bachelor or Bachelorette. Audiences were ecstatic when 32-year-old Lindsay, a lawyer, was announced as the first Black Bachelorette for Season 13.
Lindsay addressed race and dating head-on during interviews promoting the premiere saying she doesn’t have a type.
“With the guys, you know, if it’s something new to them, then I want to talk about it the same way that I [wanted] to talk to Nick about it: ‘Have you ever dated a black woman before?’” she told ET in April. “I’ll talk about my experiences as well. You know, it’s about me, too, but I don’t want it to be something that defines our relationship. But I think it’s something important to address.”
Fans have been vocal about race as well, touting Lindsay as a trailblazer and a role model. Its also worth mentioning that her potential suitors are also a ethnically diverse group compared to past seasons.
No word yet on who Lindsay has accepted the rose from, so tune in for the premiere on May 22.
