Serena Williams is defending her sister Venus after seemingly unveiling the sex of her unborn child.
During an interview with Eurosport earlier this week, Venus referred to the child as “she,” which instantly led to claims she accidentally unveiled the sex of the soon to be bundle of joy. But for Serena, there is a full explanation behind the phrase “she.”
On Thursday morning, the pregnant tennis pro released a full dissertation about her sister’s remarks. “To clarify what Venus said, I am always joking with my sisters to see what favors I can get them to do for me next,” she wrote. “If I want something from one of my sisters I say baby Venus baby Lyn, or Baby Isha needs it.”
She added, “I did not grow up with any brothers, only sisters and we all say ‘she’ more than ‘he.’ Unless I’m joking with my Dad or Alexis and I’m trying to con something out of them too.”
So the wait continues.
Serena and her fiancé, Alexis Ohanian, are expecting their first child together later this summer.
