Cuba Gooding Jr. learned of his father’s death while on set in Canada and there was young star present to help console the actor.
Jr. was on the set of his latest film A Life in a Year in Toronto when he learned that Cuba Gooding Sr. was found dead in his car. After getting word about the tragic death, it was Jaden Smith who stood by the star.
Jaden is the co-star on the film, which Will Smith is also producing.
TMZ unveiled a photo taken by a bystander of a solemn Gooding shortly after hearing the news. The actor, clad in a sweater and tie, looked down as he made his way through the halls of the set.
As previously reported, Cuba Sr. was found dead in his car in Woodland Hills late Thursday. Details surrounding his death are not clear, but it was confirmed that drugs were found inside the vehicle. It’s believed that Sr. possibly overdosed.
The soul singer and father of four was most known for his 1972 classic, “Everybody Plays the Fool.” His two sons, Oscar winner Cuba Gooding Jr. and Omar Gooding later went on to also thrive in Hollywood.
