Is that unity we smell coming from the White House?
of President Donald Trump didn’t go viral for nothing.
On Monday, Trump, along with Vice President, Mike Pence, and Education Secretary, Betsy DeVos, met briefly with a few HBCU leaders who were lobbying Congress for more funding.
And looks like they just might get it.
Trump has signed an executive order targeted at aiding Historic Black Colleges & Universities. The 70-year-old president went as far to say that the schools will be, “an absolute priority for this White House.”
We know you rolled your eyes, but hey… give him a chance.
HBCU presidents are calling for Trump to strengthen the schools with a severe lack of funding in the upcoming federal budget.
How much are we talkin’?
25 billion to be exact.
Trump’s executive order doesn’t specify how much the colleges and universities will receive and moves the Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities from the Department of Education to the executive office of the White House.
Meaning…HBCU’s downfall or comeback will be because of President Trump.
Scary we know, but Roslyn Artis, president of Florida Memorial University in Miami, is relying on the President’s keen eye for business to make the right decision.
“We’re appealing to his good business sense and hoping he finds an investment worth paying for.”
Girl, we hope so too.
Do you think Trump will help or hurt HBCU’s? Sound off in the comments below!
